Lou Rey in local dialect, The King of France, is the name of these isolated ancient fortified farm ofschist stone, which dominates a part of the Vallée Longue.
Sprinkled by the Gardon-river of Alès, it is one of the tree large main valleys constitututing the Cevennes.

The property extends on more than 50 Hectares, belonging to the commune Le Collet de Dèze, in the extreme south of the department la Lozère, region Languedoc-Rousillon.

Far from the noice and civilization agitation, you are welcome to ressource with a good meal or a walk, for
a weekend or longer stay..

with splendid view over the Cevennes valleys, open all year.

The gîte d'étape "Le Refuge des Camisards" ; bed and breakfast as well, but differing in comfort;
This hikers accomodation for maximum 12 people, with common sleeping rooms, welcomes you all year round.

Theme holidays including lodging, meals and activities like : photograpic excursions, sweet chestnut
days, discovery of the farm, manufacturing goathcheese, etc. can be organised on demand, outer

This middle age fortified farm culminates the Valley Longue at 568 m. is situated 4 Km North-East of the village Collet-de-Dèze.
The property is a biosphere reserve and also part of the peripherical zone
of the Cevennes National Park (protected flora, fauna, agricuture & landscapes, with 237000 ha, 117 communes and 41000 inhabitants).

A Farm since the beginning, its principal production was the sweet chestnut, as still the surrounding trees, a clède (construction for drying chestnuts) and the vestiges of a mill show you.

The guesttable la table d'hôte of Lou Rey propose you a traditional cuisine with succulent Cevennes specialities, elaborate with fresh farmproducts (according to the season). Open all year

The goats the little herd (about thirty) are breeded and herded following the pastoral tradition of the Cevennes. On their way, they taste, graminaceous, nipples, brooms, sweet chestnuts and other aromtaic plants which give to their mil his typical taste and makes the quality of the Pélardons

Lou Rey welcomes you every day throughout the year...

For those which practise riding or hiking with a donkey, we accomodate horses or donkeys in the enclosures and offer riders and hikers bed and breakfast (or other meals) in the gîte d'étape or in a chambre d’hôtes (on reservation).
The (equestrian) and hiking paths are very close to Lou Rey.
In every season we can organize itinerant excursions to discover gastronomy or landscape (with or without asses).

The Cevennes National Park Cévennes was created in 1970 ; and classified world reserve of biosphere
by the UNESCO in1985.
