The horses are family-idols, Satan and Napharoa
two horses of our eldest daughter Céline, live luckey days in Lou
Rey.
They pass most of their time grazing on the 4
hectares of meadows. Sometimes they are squabbling and then
suddenly galop the stretch towards the stable.
It is a quasi permanent performance which might charm you.
It is fascinating to see playing such big animals.
Our two she-asses, Flora the mother of 20 years and her daughter Anaïs
of 2 years, take jealously care on Théo, born in June 2004
which never misses an occasion to make the clown, when visitors
come to cherish it.
The goats are most
numerous among the animils of the farm. Theyvare nourished with
hay of the Crau
which they particularly appreciate.

The animals of
the farm
The
little herd of goats (about thirty) is
breeded and herded following the pastoral tradition of the
Cevennes.
On their way they taste graminaceous, acorns,
brooms, sweet chestnuts and other aromatic plants which
give their milk, determining the quality
of the Pélardons, a good taste.
Pelardons are little, typical "Cevenol" goath
cheeses.
|
Alfalfa, barley,
corn, salt, water and grasses and leaves which they find
on their way during daytime, complete their food.
All these ingredients together make a healthy milk for the
little goats and for manufacturing Pélardons, Cevennes famous little
goatcheeses.
They give birth on
average two kids at the beginning of the year, which stay
about a month with their mother, until their weaning.
Then begins milking (2 times per day) and the
manufacturing of Pélardons.
Thes little goatcheeses can be bought on the farm and are
served at the guesttable, to the great pleasure of our
guests. |
